Many politicians make promises they intend to keep, but later find out they can't. Some make promises they know they can't keep, but they deliver something less than promised, but more than nothing. This is different. It is the full-throated lie that everyone knows is a lie, yet for some reason no one seems to care. Really odd behavior for Americans. Pretty normal in North Korea, Russia, etc. But I guess that's what we're going for these days.
