No one contests that SOMEONE did in fact shoot and kill the CEO. Whether that’s Luigi Mangione is still contestable. That is what a criminal investigation and trial is for. He has contested this himself by pleading not guilty. I understand and agree with the point you are making, but it is not accurate and also a disservice to his presumption of innocence at this time.
You're technically correct, but the "wasn't me" defense isn't likely to make an appearance at trial. And it would be hard to argue that the journal he left doesn't admit the act. I know ... maybe someone planted the journal, etc. There's always a conspiratorial hoop to jump through, and then another. If I am to presume his innocence, it would be much easier to do so with my argument than with a claim that it was actually someone else. But I'm not his lawyer.
