Trump's Cult of a Party Brings "Fascist Brain Drain" to America
Republicans are not sending their best. They're sending their worst—and they're destroying America's future by driving experts away
The Republican Party is a rotting zombie corpse. Like a monster in a horror movie, it just won't lay down for good—and now it’s back, eating America’s brains. We've watched the Fascist Brain Drain gut nations before us—turning vibrant democracies into hollowed-out husks of selfishness, cowardice, and incompetence.

What Is Fascist Brain Drain?
Fascist Brain Drain refers to the mass departure of intellectuals, scientists, artists, and other skilled professionals from countries that fall under fascist regimes. In Nazi Germany and Mussolini’s Italy oppressive policies, censorship, and the targeting of minority groups drove out the very people who were essential to cultivating a thriving society. In the 1930s and 1940s, many of Europe’s brightest minds found refuge in the United States, where they could continue their work and contribute to their new homeland’s success. This cautionary tale from history shows when a country drives out its intellectual wealth, it gets crushed under the burden of bootlickers, conspiracy theorists, and so-called “manly men of masculinity” who couldn’t hack it in a real meritocracy—leaving the nation as small and pathetic as the fascists who diminish it.
When Germany fell under Nazis control, it lost Albert Einstein, Fritz Lang, Hannah Arendt, Thomas Mann—some of its greatest minds. Like any regime that exists to prop up a fragile “strong man,” fascism simply can’t tolerate dissent, truth, reality, creativity or independent thought. Russia is facing a similar exodus today as Putin tightens his grip on power and cracks down on the last traces of freedom, forcing tech workers, journalists, and academics to leave the country in droves. This new wave of brain drain is propelling Russia into a bleak future, just as the loss of intellectual giants once did for Germany.
And now, Putin’s favorite president is poisoning America the same way.
The Fascist Brain Drain in Hungary: Orbán's War on Knowledge
It’s not a secret that the MAGAts love Viktor Orbán’s Hungary and are following his playbook. Hungary’s democratic decline is a chilling, modern case study in how authoritarian regimes weaponize education to consolidate power.
Since 2010, Orbán's Fidesz party has systematically dismantled academic freedom—defunding universities, banning gender studies, and forcing the Central European University into exile. The results have been catastrophic: nearly 15% of Hungarian academics have fled since 2015, with fascist brain drain accelerating after laws mandated government control over research funding and curriculum. This is exactly what the MAGAt Republicans are doing in America.
In Hungary, Orbán replaced exiled professors with loyalists, turning universities into propaganda factories that churn out "nationalist science.” Similarly, here in America, the America-hating Traitor Trump regime are calling for so-called “patriotic education” in K-12 schools in order to make young people dumb enough to fall for blind allegiance to a tax-cheating, draft-dodging, convicted felon and incapable of addressing the actual problems America faces as a modern, multi-racial, liberal democracy. After all, we can’t fix “perfect.”
Traitor Trump’s orders target the teaching of concepts such as "white privilege," "unconscious bias," and "gender ideology”. Where Hungary banned gender studies as "anti-Christian," Republican states are banning the use of the term “climate change,” outlawing DEI programs and attacking women's studies departments. Mark my words, it won’t be long until America’s first convicted felon president uses his “war on anti-Christian bias” as the reason to attack university courses the christofascists don’t approve of.
As a result of their war on freedom, reality and knowledge, Hungary's tech sector bleeds talent to Berlin and Vienna, GDP growth lags behind neighbors, and once-prestigious institutions now rank below universities in Kazakhstan.
This is the intentional national self-sabotage that Republicans are trying to import.
How the MAGAt Cult Is Accelerating the Drain
At one time, the Republican Party at least pretended to care about freedom and democracy. Now, they’ve tossed any trace of real conservatism down Trump’s gilded toilet and rebranded themselves as a personality cult for the most unfit, unqualified, and pathologically self-obsessed narcissist ever to slither down a golden escalator.
With their convicted felon standard-bearer leading the charge, the party has made ignorance, cruelty, and a hatred of expertise not just acceptable, but mandatory. This isn’t your garden-variety political tension—it’s a full-blown campaign to purge anyone with competence or actual loyalty to the Constitution, replacing them with sycophants who think the Constitution is just another obstacle to their grifting. And for all the (Made in China) giant flags they love to wave, Republicans are busy dismantling the “Grand Experiment” from the inside. Whether it’s attacking education, science, journalism, or anyone who doesn’t fit their narrow definition of a “real” American, today’s Republican ideology is all about tearing down the very pillars of democracy they claim to defend.
The Republican War on Higher Education
In 1820, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”
America’s founders understood that an educated population is essential for a functioning democracy—so Republicans attack, vilify and undermine education at every opportunity. Republicans have spent years demonizing public education as “gub’mnt schools” and universities as “liberal indoctrination camps,” slashing funding for public colleges, and attacking professors for teaching anything that challenges far-right dogma or encourages freedom of thought, expression, and individuality. Of course, Republicans love to venerate the so-called “rugged individual” when they’re trying to stop free lunch programs in school. But just try being an individual in the Republican Party and you’ll be harassed and threatened until you fall back in line—or kicked out of their cult.
Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” laws and Texas’s crusade against “critical race theory” aren’t just culture war theatrics—they have the added “bonus” of driving out educators and researchers who refuse to spread divisive Republican bigotry targeting whichever minority group is currently in their crosshairs, and to dumb down the curriculum to suit fragile, eggshell MAGA sensibilities. This leads to academics fleeing red states, leaving students with a gutted, ideologically neutered education system that teaches them an infantile view of the world and sets them up for failure in a modern society that continues to evolve without them.
The Republican Purge of Science and Public Health Experts
We all remember when Trump’s “gut” suggested Americans inject themselves with bleach to cure COVID. While most of us were smart enough not to follow the medical advice of a lifelong con man who failed at selling meat through the mail, some Republican voters took their Dim Leader seriously and paid for their stupidity. In in the weeks that followed “Dr.” Traitor Trump’s ridiculous suggestion, there was a marked rise in accidental poisonings. Who needs “expertise” when we have a con man’s “common sense”? As Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator at the time, sat horrified — and silent— we were forced to endure yet another day in the GOP’s ongoing war on expertise. Dr. Birx later described herself as "extraordinarily uncomfortable" during that infamous moment, saying, "Frankly, I didn't know how to handle that episode. I still think about it every day.” She should.
By the time Trump slunk out the back door of the White House (after failing at his coup to usurp the will of the people), he left behind a horrifying record of death—turning America into a land of mass graves and giving us the worst death toll of all developed nations on earth.
This time, there’s no “Dr. Brix” to sit silently horrified. It’s worse. The most egregious waste of human DNA ever to stain the office of the Presidency has surrounded himself with other wastes of human DNA who, either agree with him or don’t care because they’re trying to steal as much as they can before the American people finally pull the plug on them.
Scientists at the CDC and NIH have been harassed, defunded, and fired for doing their jobs trying to make America a leader in the world in spite of years of conservative obstruction. Doctors in red states are packing up and leaving thanks to draconian abortion bans and anti-LGBTQ+ laws. Public health officials who recommended vaccines or masks were branded as “deep state operatives.” When you chase out the people who actually know what they’re doing, all you’re left with is quackery, chaos, and disasters that could have been avoided. Good luck, Red States. While children in these poorly run laboratories of Republican ineptitude and indifference die from measles—a disease we eradicated decades ago—without a hint of irony, fascist Republicans pack outright kooks into every nook and cranny of the government the founders fought a revolution to create and entrust to us—AKA: The government Republicans are trying to destroy and replace with their autocratic sh*thole.
The Red State Exodus of Women, LGBTQ+ People, and Minorities
Red states aren’t just losing doctors and professors—they’re watching entire demographics pack up and leave rather than live under increasingly hostile, theocratic rule. States like Texas and Florida are experiencing significant spikes in out-migration as women flee draconian abortion bans, LGBTQ+ people escape anti-trans and anti-queer legislation, and professionals of color relocate to places where they won’t be targeted by voter suppression or racist rhetoric.
This isn’t just a political loss—it’s economic self-sabotage that hangs around our national neck like an albatross. Recent research shows that since the fall of Roe v. Wade, states with near-total abortion bans have lost tens of thousands of residents per quarter. Young adults, women, and high-earning professionals—groups critical to a state’s economic and social infrastructure —are leaving red states in droves to states that protect freedoms.
As skilled workers, young professionals, and entire families leave, businesses struggle to recruit and retain talent, and local economies suffer. Blue states, meanwhile, are left subsidizing poorly run Republican red states. What’s worse is the “average Joe” Republican voter can’t seem to muster the manners, maturity or decency to say “thanks” to the blue states keeping them afloat. They continuously disparage blue states as not part of “real America” as well as continuing to vote for Republicans who do nothing to improve the standard of living in the states they pretend to represent while distracting their constituents with hateful bills targeting minorities.
While the rest of the country tries to move forward, the red state ball and chain does their worst to drag us all to the Dark Ages.
The GOP Cult of Anti-Intellectualism
The GOP no longer even pretends to value intelligence or competence. Instead, they celebrate stupidity as a virtue. The dimmest bulbs are the brightest stars in the fascist Republican firmament. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a woman who actually believed "Jewish space lasers" were the cause of wildfires is a GOP “leader.” Her embrace of QAnon conspiracies has made her a symbol of the party’s shift away from seriousness to stupidity.
At the national level, Traitor Trump is “patient zero” of the disease of decline. Forget expertise! Job seekers in his orbit now must pass loyalty tests to ensure their MAGAt credentials. Of course, the result is chilling. Career professionals fear retribution for voicing, not just independent opinions—but truth.
When a political bowel movement replaces knowledge and competence with blind loyalty, it doesn’t just fail—it actively destroys the institutions that keep society running.
Why This Is Catastrophic
To paraphrase President Obama, ultimately, this isn't just about blue states vs. red states. This is about the “United States.” The Fascist Brain Drain destroys us all, and the damage takes generations to recover from.
Economies collapse when innovation leaves. Silicon Valley was built on immigrant talent and academic research—what happens when the next generation of engineers and entrepreneurs decide America is too hostile to stay?
Healthcare crumbles when doctors flee. Rural hospitals are already closing in red states. If more physicians leave over abortion bans or anti-LGBTQ+ persecution, who will treat patients?
Institutions rot when competent people are purged. The GOP has already packed courts with unqualified judges and filled agencies with industry hacks. If this continues, nothing will function—and that’s the point. The whole game is turn America into an autocracy to make it easier for the rich to steal. With America off the board, it’ll make it easier for billionaire sociopath parasites to make their fever dream of world domination a reality.
The bottom line is, a dumber population is easier to manipulate and a broken government is easier to loot. A brain-drained America is exactly what Traitor Trump and his cronies need to cement their power and replace pesky democracy with Putin-style autocracy once and for all.
How We Fight Back
We can still stop the Fascist Brain Drain—but it requires fighting back at every level.
Protect education. Stand up against every GOP book ban. Fund public universities. Defend teachers from far-right harassment.
Support a free press. Right-wing media wants to delegitimize real journalism. Subscribe to independent media like the Political Voices Network. Share PVN with everyone you know and call out propaganda.
Vote like hell. Every election matters. Local school boards, state legislatures, Congress—fascists lose when turnout is high.
If we don't act now, we'll end up like Hungary. Like Russia. Like every other failed state that traded its future for the empty promises of a weak AF “strongman.”
The brain drain is here. The question is: How much longer are we going to take it, people?
