This Sacred Site Survived Millennia. It Could Not Survive Trump

Irreplaceable history keeps paying the price for Trump’s manifest unfitness.

Archaeologists say prehistoric Indigenous people carved this fish-shaped geoglyph nearly seven millennia ago, but to the Trump maladministration, its place in human history was apparently incidental.

In April, a federal contractor drove heavy equipment through the site, gouging a roughly 50-foot-wide corridor across the 272-foot artifact to make way for Trump’s racist, politically motivated, aesthetically ugly border wall. Archaeologists and Indigenous advocates say the damage is irreversible.
