The Republican Party, that greed-centered death cult pantomiming a political party, has officially decided which lie they’re going to run with after their fascist shock troops manhandled and handcuffed a sitting U.S. senator for the crime of asking a question.
Senator Alex Padilla, Democrat from California, dared to stand yards away from the puppy and goat killing Noem at her Los Angeles press conference and was rewarded with the full authoritarian spectacle of being dragged out, slammed to the floor, and cuffed like a prisoner in a Kafka novel for committing the “crime” of asking a fascist sociopath a question.
Right on cue, the Fox News fascist propaganda mill jumped into action, making excuses for the un-American assault.
The video is everywhere. Padilla clearly identifies himself as he’s being shoved out of the room by men in plain clothes and officers in FBI vests. “I’m Senator Alex Padilla! I have questions for the secretary!” he says, as he’s forced to the ground.
Let’s Break it Down.
Here’s a brief timeline of events.
Senator Padilla attends Noem’s press conference, hoping to get answers about the Trump maladministration’s chaos-causing immigration raids.
Noem, in full authoritarian cosplay, declares her intent to “liberate” the city from “socialist” leadership, proving yet again that everything this maladministration does is a performance. There is no “socialist leadership” in California. Just effective governance that makes California the world’s fifth largest economy and a state millions all over the country and the world want to visit and live.
Padilla, a Senator from the state Noem, Traitor Trump and the Republican fascist party are waging war on stands up, identifies himself, and tries to ask a question, he is surrounded, shoved out, slammed to the floor, and handcuffed by Noem’s shock troops. The video shows him identifying himself as a senator throughout the ordeal.
Democrats, the press, American patriots and democracy-loving humans worldwide reel in shock at the sight of a U.S. senator being attacked by fascist thugs for for daring to perform congressional oversight.
The Republican propaganda machine takes their lies for a spin:
First, Noem and DHS claim Padilla “didn’t identify himself” and was “lunging” at the podium—easily disproven by video evidence.
When the “nobody knew who he was” lie collapses, the Republican response isn’t to reflect on their America-hating actions. They double down and go on the attack, as always.
Next, they shift to the “he was disruptive” script: Padilla “stormed the podium,” “yelled,” “screamed,” and “refused to comply.”
Here’s the same incident from a different angle. If Senator Padilla “burst in, screaming” and “lunged at the podium,” we would’ve heard and saw it.
Closet case lapdog for Traitor Trump, Mike Johnson, parrots the talking point lies. Padilla “charged a sitting cabinet secretary,” “refused to calm down,” and “set a terrible example”.
The right-wing media, led by Fox News amplifies the bullshit, while ignoring the literal assault on democracy unfolding before everyone’s eyes.
To add to the assault on decency and democracy, Johnson, smirking through heckles and jeers from the onlookers who know he’s lying, is now calling for Padilla’s censure.
He says, “A sitting member of Congress should not act like that. It is beneath a member of Congress. It is beneath a U.S. senator. They're supposed to lead by example. And that is not a good example. We have to turn the temperature down in this country and not escalate it. The Democrat Party is on the wrong side. They were defending lawbreakers and now they are acting like lawbreakers themselves.”
Of course, we can tell how sincere he is in “turning down the temperature” by the way he doesn’t call the Democratic Party by its actual name, but instead uses the juvenile GOP pejorative “Democrat Party.”
Republicans Claim Their Victim Status
Par for the fascist course, Republicans have decided to go with the lie that they did nothing wrong. In fact, they’ve decided they weren’t the attackers at all— they were the ones being attacked by the big, bad “disruptive” Senator who dared ask puppy and goat-killing Noem a question about her divisive, chaos-creating, America-hating actions in the state he represents.
It’s fascism 101. The oppressors claim the mantle of the oppressed and here’s yet another example. The ones with all the power— the ones literally dragging a Senator of press conference and slamming him to the ground, clutch their pearls and wail, “he charged the podium” (by standing 20 feet away).
Republicans do this all the time. When previously privileged groups lose some of their absolute power due to social progress, Republicans are there to incite resentments with their siren song of perpetual division. They use cries of “reverse racism,” “woke,” “DEI” or “the feminization of society” to insist they’re under attack, as they maintain or expand their power. This is a classic fascist strategy to maintain domination and distract from their real agenda of enriching the few at the top while tearing American society apart. They can’t help but employ it in every situation.
So, here they go again. While they run roughshod over democracy and bark orders from behind a wall of armed goons, Republicans whine about “incivility” and “attacks”.
It’s gaslighting on a national scale that’s meant to confuse, distract, and divide us. But we patriots see through the act.
They want us to be scared. They want free speech chilled and they want us to believe that the real threats to America are everything that actually makes America great, not the militarized crackdown on dissent, the masked thugs disappearing hard working people trying to make a better life, and the nonstop, Putin-approved lies pumped out by Fox News and Kremlin-funded right-wing influencers and the daily assaults on democracy from the MAGAt cult.
Padilla himself put it plainly: “If this is how this administration reacts to a senator asking a question, you can imagine what they’re doing to farmworkers, cooks, and day laborers in Los Angeles, California, and across the nation”.
Indeed. Under Republican fascism the working class, the politically unconnected and the vulnerable don’t stand a chance.
The Stakes: Democracy or Fascism
It’s time to face it without flinching. The Republican Party has open contempt for democracy and is at war with America. They are using all the violence at their command, and all the shameless bottomless lies they can, to maintain power.
The question is, how much longer are we going to take it, people? How much longer? I don’t know how much more the American experiment can withstand.
