My grandfather used to say, “Any idiot with a hammer can tear down a house; it takes a skilled craftsman to build one.” This wisdom resonates today as we witness Donald Trump’s destructive economic policies that threaten our planet and our livelihoods. While it’s easy to dismantle what others have built, creating a sustainable and equitable economy requires skill, foresight, and commitment. We already know that Donald Trump has none of skill to use the necessary tools that will build America. Do Democrats? Unfortunately, too many Democrats are currently echoing Wall Street and billionaire-funded think tank talking points, neglecting the very tools that could help us rebuild our manufacturing base and create family-sustaining union jobs.
