No, Sean Duffy, Trump's Stupid Tariffs Didn't Bring Manufacturing Home—that was Joe Biden

Republicans sure love taking credit for the successes of Democratic policies they oppose

So-called Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, another ever the reliable mouthpiece for Republican revisionist history, took to Fox News—the network that leaves its viewers less informed than those who watch no news at all—to peddle the lie that Trump’s ridiculous, needless, unthoughtful tariffs have sparked a “manufacturing boom” in the nation.

Republicans Are Destroying Biden’s Manufacturing Boom

According to Duffy, Trump’s reckless trade wars have somehow resurrected American industry, conveniently ignoring the mountain of evidence showing the opposite. This is where we are now. MAGAt mouthpieces just keep lying and hope the American people are stupid enough to believe it.

In reality, Trump’s tariffs tanked manufacturing jobs, drove up costs, and left American workers holding the bag, as usual. Like other Traitor Trump mouthpieces, the lies are sprinkled throughout whatever announcements they’re making. On this occasion, Duffy wove his fiction throughout his “Great American Road Trip” announcement. A stunt the Department of Transportation is promoting to celebrate the 250th birthday of the liberal democracy Republicans hate and are actively destroying.

In Trumpanzee lore, the Republican Party of offshoring jobs and union-busting is the champion of American workers.

Republicans Take Credit For Biden’s Manufacturing Boom

The truth is more obvious. Republicans are, yet again, stealing credit for Joe Biden’s manufacturing boom while pushing the same failed policies that gutted American industry in the first place.

It’s standard Republican operating procedure: obstruct, lie, distract, and then take credit for the Democratic Party clean-up you fought tooth and nail to prevent.

It is a demonstrable fact that Joe Biden’s administration delivered the largest manufacturing jobs growth in decades. Thanks to the Infrastructure Law (2021), the CHIPS Act (2022), and the Inflation Reduction Act (2022), the Biden Administration added nearly 800,000 new manufacturing jobs to a nation that had been hemorrhaging manufacturing jobs for decades.

The overwhelming majority of Republicans actively tried to block every one of the Biden policies that brought those jobs home. In 2021, they voted against the infrastructure bill. In 2022, they railed against the CHIPS Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, calling them “socialism” and “big government overreach.” Today, Republicans are working their evil fingers to nubs trying to unravel these job-creating policies.

Republicans Cut the Ribbon on Bills They Tried to Kill

When Americans saw a real manufacturing resurgence for the first time in decades, shamelessly, Republicans scrambled to show up at the ribbon-cutting ceremonies for projects they voted against, confident their propaganda channels will give them the cover to pretend they supported them all along.

Thanks to the Biden Administration, American workers finally had an advocate working to give them a fair shot. Factories were being built, jobs were coming back—until 49.6% of the voting population that showed up on election day gave the worst president in American history the power to bring all that progress to a grinding halt.

The record of Trump’s first maladministration is an abomination. During his first term, he left office with a net loss of manufacturing jobs—about 178,000 fewer than when he started. Even before the pandemic, manufacturing growth plateaued, with 48,000 jobs lost from January 2019 to February 2020.

Even before this current debacle, the so-called “America First” tariffs (2018–2021) were a disaster for workers—costing jobs, raising prices, and slamming small businesses. Carrier moved jobs to Mexico. Harley-Davidson shifted production overseas to avoid tariffs. The trade deficit ballooned, and American farmers needed a billion dollar government bailout to cover losses from Trump’s first needless trade war.

Now, in Traitor Trump’s second maladministration, the destruction continues. His “Liberation Day” tariffs have done nothing but cause chaos spurring allies to sever ties with America. Much to the delight of America’s adversaries.

Despite Sean Duffy’s lies, American auto workers are facing plant closures and layoffs thanks to Traitor Trump’s ineptitude and needless trade wars.

Family farms, already battered by Trump’s first-term trade war, are once again facing devastation. In 2025, Trump’s administration slashed federal support for small farms and cut funding for programs that helped local producers sell to schools and food pantries.

Republican “Governance” is Destroy, Divide, Distract and Lie

Kansas farmers lost millions in grants and face uncertainty as tariffs make it harder to import vital supplies and sell their crops overseas. The farm crisis is deepening, with more bankruptcies, fewer opportunities for small producers — all while Republicans decimate the social safety net.

While judicial review finally caught up with Trump on May 28, 2025 when the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that Trump’s stupid “Liberation Day” tariffs had exceeded his authority. Though the court is currently blocking them, the damage is already done— supply chains are upended, businesses are left in limbo, and global markets are rattled. The only thing that’s certain is the chaos will continue to drive potential partners away.

This is Republican “governance”. Break the system, obstruct progress, and then try to rewrite history when Democrats clean up the mess. They have nothing to offer working people except more lies, more grift, and more gaslighting.

In fact, the only things Republicans ever manufacturing is outrage, distraction, and revisionist history to continue to feed the self-serving greed for the few at the top.

The bottom line is Democrats deliver and Republicans divide and destroy. That’s the truth, no matter what lies Republicans spew on their propaganda channels.
