CBS is cancelling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert—their most-watched program and one of the last mainstream late-night outlets still speaking uncomfortable truths, especially about the orange baboon staining the Oval Office with his treasonous unfitness.
Don’t believe for a second that this is about finances. It’s about appeasing America’s lawless convicted felon (so-called) president and shuffling CBS toward a takeover by a Trump cultist, with the last shreds of “public good” being shoved into the trash heap.
CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global, is pursuing a merger with Skydance—pending government (AKA: Traitor Trump) approval. Anyone paying attention knows any deal, unethical or not, would be swiftly approved if the Republican Dear Leader is pleased by the corporate genuflecting.
Skydance, led by David Ellison, doesn’t even hide its MAGAt-ness. As soon as Colbert was sacked, America’s first convicted felon president praised the decision and immediately signaled his support for the merger.
That’s how it goes under corrupt Republican rule. The public and public good, be damned. Colbert was cut barely a week after torching CBS’s $16 million hush payment settlement with Trump on air. If you think this is a coincidence, I’d like to invite you to “invest” in a Trump branded, recession-proof multilevel marketing vitamin scam, I mean… opportunity.
As Parker Molloy wrote for The New Republic,
“Mock a Trump bribe on Monday, get canceled by Thursday. The Late Show’s death reveals how billionaires and presidents are reshaping American media.”
Paramount’s Justifications Don’t Add Up
The network claims a $40 million annual “loss” on Colbert. That’s their convenient excuse.
But let’s look at the numbers: Paramount’s television segment made $10 billion in 2023, and the company’s latest quarterly revenue was $7.19 billion—not million. $40 million is under 0.5% of yearly revenue. For a media giant, this is pocket change, not a crisis.
Historically, networks absorbed minor losses on flagship shows that burnished their brand and served a public mission. For CBS to axe Colbert, rather than even considering modest cuts, only proves their agenda isn’t budgetary—it’s about silencing critics of the Traitor Trump regime.
CBS’s “financial pressures” fall apart when weighed against their multi-billion annual revenue and quarterly profits.
Signature network shows have always been protected—especially when they’re anchors of journalistic or civic value.
The timing, coming days after Colbert’s anti-Trump monologue and the network’s Trump payout, is an insult to anyone’s intelligence.
If you line up these facts, it’s obvious that CBS is rolling over to the Trump cult.
Nowadays, greed is the only American value corporations are concerned with. Gone are the quaint concepts of civic responsibility and public good. Democracy isn’t even a minor spreadsheet cell, much less a topic in the boardroom.
Let’s not pretend Trump isn’t in the middle of this. The man is a thin-skinned, traitorous, Russia-loving Putin-puppet whose obsession with vengeance and personal loyalty is now dragging the American experiment into the sewer with him.
The worst president in history isn’t secure enough to laugh at himself. He knows what an unfit fraud he is. That’s why his contempt for satire, truth-telling, and the First Amendment is so deep.
Trump’s inability to endure mockery is more than just a symptom of his malignant narcissism— it’s a clear marker of his authoritarian mindset and his basic unfitness for office. Anyone willing to silence comedians is willing to silence dissent, period. No healthy democracy can survive this retreat from public accountability and free speech for long.
But we don’t have to silently accept this latest act of corporate complicity with an America-hating tyrant. This isn’t about just a show or a host. It’s about the corporate-sponsored slow death of democracy itself.
Networks like CBS need to hear from us.

Concern Regarding the Cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show
Dear CBS Viewer Relations / Paramount Investor Relations Team,
I am writing as a longtime viewer and supporter of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I was deeply disappointed to learn about the decision to cancel the show after so many years of quality journalism, thoughtful political satire, and fearless commentary.
The Late Show has been a vital outlet for holding powerful figures accountable and providing important cultural perspective. Its cancellation is a loss for free speech and meaningful public discourse on your network.
I urge CBS and Paramount Global leadership to reconsider this decision or to ensure that future programming continues to support courageous voices that contribute to democratic dialogue.
I hope you will keep your audience’s values and concerns at the forefront of your programming choices. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,

Democracy won’t survive if decent people sit silent as the networks sell us out for their own self-serving profit and power. CBS is silencing Colbert before an election where free speech is already tottering in order to please America’s wannabe-dictator. Don’t let corporate cowards or Trump’s traitorous enablers decide whether truth gets airtime.
Speak up. Refuse to accept this. Democracy is worth fighting for—even when the rich and powerful are giving up on it.
